Since I’ve Been Home
Since I’ve been home, I’ve been a little slow at adjusting to being back.
The day I got back, I spent the majority of it laying around, not doing much of anything.
If it wasn’t for a previously planned lunch date, I probably would have had a repeat of day one.
So what were my plans?
Lunch at Savor Cafe with some food bloggers.
I had never been there before so I was excited to try a new place.
I liked the decor though.
We all sort of went the same route with getting a light lunch.
Jamie got a sandwich with tomatoes, cheese and balsamic reduction that looked amazing.
Julie, Katie, Mary and I all got salads.
The greek salad with balsamic was quite tasty and due to my lack of nutrients last week, this was just what I needed.
Did I mention it was Mary’s birthday yesterday?
Cucumber from Jamie’s garden wrapped in a bow, best present ever?!

Ladies who lunch.

Before Kentucky, I vowed to myself to make a more conscious effort to get back into shape.
So I picked one of the hottest days to walk some of the greenway trail.
Brilliant Vanessa. Brilliant.
It was just me, my Ipod, and my camera.
I decided to take a few nature pictures of the greenway.
Then I realized that all of the different tree stumps and old wooden limbs kept on catching my eye.
So then I took a few pictures of some of the interesting ones.
I’m a total dork.
Who takes pictures of tree stumps?!
I’ve lost it. Clearly…

Since I got home, I’ve restocked my fridge somewhat.
I picked up a couple pounds of these sweet cherries.
They are one of my favorite summer snacks.
I seriously pop these like candy.
Although I’m thinking of making Tartlette’s clafoutis or cherry pistachio cake with some of them.
————
I also have been making some garden progress.
I was able to pick four small tomatoes.
I almost have a ripe German Johnson tomato!!
^ Insert squeal here.

The pickles I made before my trip turned out surprisingly delicious!
I need to start pickling more things.
I may be addicted.
—————
I finally made myself a balanced, home cooked meal.
For the first time in over a week.
Broiled flounder with lemon butter, roasted tomatoes and broccoli and leftover pesto pasta.
Delish.
——————-
Now it’s time to do the dishes.
I can say that I did not miss doing that at all.
I’m also trying to make some weekend plans! Shooting for a good hike or something!
Goodnight readers!
Vanessa
