Time to Make the Donuts
Sorry for the day off last night!! I was all sorts of tired and nothing very exciting happened anyways. I actually ended up dozing off for a few on my couch. Way to go me.
Dinner was delicious though! I had some dying kale in the fridge, so I made kale chips as per usual. They I heated up some leftover rice, with leftover tikka masala sauce, and leftover falafel burger.
Definitely thrown together, but definitely tasty!!
Ok so like the post says, “Time to Make the Donuts”. Err, muffins. Donuts that taste like muffins. Muffins that taste like donuts. Whatever you want to call them, they are delicious!!!!
Where’d the inspiration come from you ask? Well blogs of course!! I was over at Pinoneer Woman’s Tasty Kitchen and saw a recipe titled “Muffins That Taste Like Donuts“. I couldn’t resist, I needed these in my life!!! I’m glad I didn’t resist.
First I mixed together my dry ingredients: A.P. flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Then combined my egg, milk, sugar, vanilla[I added that], canola oil and added that mix to the dry ingredients.
Stir until just incorporated, don’t want to over mix!
The I lightly greased a regular muffin pan and put the batter just up to the half way mark.
** Note, please ignore my permanently stained muffin pan. I really should get a new one.**
I baked them for 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
Don’t they just look SO fluffy?!
While they were still warm I applied the delicious topping.
First I brushed on a thin layer of melted butter.
Then rolled it around in cinnamon sugar.
Oh yea. This might be what dreams are made of.
I immediately ate one, so I was just shy of a baker’s dozen [Woops].
I looked out on my deck and saw that there was a small part with some sunlight, so I took my donut muffins and camera outdoors today.
Gosh, I’m drooling all over again, just looking at these pictures.
I made them as a thank you for my Aunt and Uncle and all their wonderful help the past week or so with my kitchen!! They seemed to go over quite well!!

Ok so kitchen update.
I got SO frustrated today. Putting things back in cabinets ended up being harder than I thought. Certain things weren’t fitting where I wanted them to, leading me to rethink my whole game plan. This kitchen just was not designed well at all!! I still have another day of work left to get everything perfect, I think.
Basically I’m trying to alleviate some clutter from my small kitchen cabinets by adding a few more shelves to my laundry room/pantry. That way everything will be organized and I’ll be able to see what I have.
I’ve been searching for the perfect cabinet doorknob. Currently they are these fugly shiny gold ones. I loathe them. My plan is to replace them with knobs I like and give the drab kitchen some character. Obviously once I move, however short or far that is down the line, I’d take them with me and put the fugly knobs back.
Ideally, I love the cabinet knobs from Anthropologie. Unfortunately the ones I like are $8. Now times that by 15. Yeah, that’s over $100!!! So out of my price range!
So today went went to Blackhawk Hardware [Ace hardware] per recommendations. They have a huge selection of hardware it’s overwhelming. Normally I’d go with something sort of simple, but since the kitchen is like I said drab and colorless, I had my heart set on a fun, colorful, ceramic knob.
This is what I came up with:
I only bought one to see if A) I like it and B) it fits. Well it fits. I think it’s cute. It’s not exactly what I was looking for but the price was. These were $2.99!!
And look, they match my Anthropologie dish towel!!
I’m gonna sit on it for a day or two to see if I really like it.
What do you guys think??
I hate to say it but I’m off to make another batch of the donut muffins. They were just too good.
New Top Chef tonight!! I’m routing for Richie or Antonia!
Have a good night!!!
P.S. I’m still dreaming of starting a Supper Club!! Seriously… Any takers?
